Writing Lessons with St Francis de Sales

‘I can’t do this, Frank.’

‘Is my task too hard for you?’

‘I am struggling to find words which comply with your instructions, and my writing is turning into pompous rubbish.’

‘How disappointing!’ Frank laughs in triumph.

‘Trying to avoid a common symbol is making it difficult to construct a plot for my story.’

‘Is that why your copy is so tortuous?’

‘This is your fault, and I want you to go.’

‘Your output may fall to nothing.’

‘I’ll risk it, now, sod off.’

‘Told you this wouldn’t work,’ Frank grins. ‘From now on, try trusting your own instincts.’
